John,
As you can imagine, our Attorney General is tackling an array of issues stemming from the coronavirus outbreak. We want you to know what she's been up to:
-
Ellen is tracking fraud and price gouging. Products like toilet paper, hand sanitizer and face masks, and other essentials Oregonians need to combat COVID-19. She's sent a clear message to local stores and online retailers that exploiting the public's fear for profits will not be tolerated. (Her new Price Gouging Hotline is 503-378-8442).
-
She is working to combat scams. There are no known cures or vaccines for COVID-19, and anyone selling one is lying. And as for any money you may eventually get from the federal government, be careful! Scammers are already scheming on how to take advantage of you. (Ellen's latest Scam Alerts)
-
She is investigating a surge in reports of bias incidents committed against Asian-Americans in our communities and is committed to fighting xenophobia. A pandemic is no excuse for racism — we will only come out of this crisis standing together. If you experience or see an incident, the statewide Hate Crime hotline is up and running (1-844-924-BIAS).
As our AG tackles the challenges head-on, one thing is clear: this crisis illuminates just how critical it is to have strong leaders like Ellen.
Stand with Ellen in her fight to protect Oregonians, in this moment, and in any battles to come.
