Friend,
Historian Chris Fogarty's book "Ireland 1845-1850: The Perfect Genocide" demonstrates how "There was no famine in the ordinary sense of that word [during the "Irish Potato Famine."] It was genocide perpetrated by more than half of Britain's army (67 regiments of its 130 regiments total). They removed, at gunpoint, Ireland's abundant meats, livestock, and food crops to the ports for export; thus starving the people."
Today the deliberate starvation of the people of Gaza confronts us all. Though much of this criminal behavior is perpetrated under the banner of the United States of America, the methods of depopulation and perpetual war for geopolitical purposes infamously belong to the British Empire and British colonialism, from Ireland to India to Gaza.
As we approach the 250th Anniversary of the American Revolution we should recall that our Revolution was designed to end such horrific practices.?Henry Carey, the son of Irish revolutionary Matthew Carey, and a close collaborator of Abraham Lincoln, summarized that:
"There are two systems are before the world: One looks to pauperism, ignorance, depopulation, and barbarism; the other in increasing wealth, comfort, intelligence, combination of action, and civilization. One looks towards universal war; the other towards universal peace. One is the English system; the other we may be proud to call the American system, for it is the only one ever devised the tendency of which was that of elevating while equalizing the condition of man throughout the world."
