We're in the middle of both an unprecedented crisis and one of the most important election years in recent history, leaving many unsure about where, when, and how they can vote. I'm feeling the pressure of keeping myself and my family safe and staying engaged. It's hard.

But why people should vote is actually clearer than ever.

We're watching how our elected officials at home and on Capitol Hill are representing us and our needs. Some are fighting for our health and safety while others are refusing to follow the guidance of public health officials and risking the lives of hundreds of thousands of Americans. If we want to make sure that we have elected officials representing our best interests, it's up to us to vote them into office.

You can help make sure people are registered and have the information they need to vote. We've made it simple to text eligible voters in Pennsylvania, a key state for progressives to win in 2020, and get them registered.

Bringing younger voters and voters of color onto the voter rolls will make sure the electorate looks like the American people. We all win when that happens. In 2018, we saw that bringing new people to the polls helped secure progressive policies across the country.

Last week, we secured $400 million for crucial voting reforms like vote-by-mail in the COVID-19 relief package. In just one week, the Stand Up America community made over 70,000 phone calls to Congress, urging them to add funding for vote-by-mail, protection for poll workers, and expand things like early voting and online registration.

This victory is proof of two things: One, mass actions force our elected officials to listen and two, even when times are hard, our community always shows up to do the work.
