I’ll never forget the one of the worst moments of my life when my eleven-year-old daughter Eleanor sent me the text, “There is a shooter here.” As a parent, I felt my stomach drop. I remember thinking how could this be happening in my own community?

Thankfully, she was safe and unharmed, but this is nothing new in America. Every day, 120 Americans are killed with guns and more than 200 are shot and wounded.

As a father, community member, and human being, I am appalled and frightened for the future of our children. I am even more appalled by my opponent’s lack of action against this crisis.

Rather than fighting for change, my opponent hosts events where guns are promoted. The same guns that are killing Americans in this country every day.
