John,
Over the last week, we’ve seen dueling visions for our country’s future.
House Budget Committee Chair Jodey Arrington released the Republican 2025 budget―which seeks to cut $6 trillion over ten years from critical agencies and services:[1]
-
Medicare
-
Medicaid
-
The IRS
-
Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
-
Temporary Assistance for Needy Families
-
Pell Grants for higher education
-
And more!
Arrington also included in his 2025 budget the GOP’s “fiscal commission”, a panel that would seek to cut Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, SNAP, and more behind closed doors.
And despite all their dire warnings about federal debt, the Republicans’ proposed budget wouldn’t raise a nickel in new taxes from the wealthy or corporations. In fact, they’re still selling their thoroughly discredited trickle-down economics (what a former Republican president once called “voodoo economics”), with the claim that tax cuts for the rich and corporations will somehow result in $3 trillion in deficit reduction. As anyone with a knowledge of simple math knows, tax cuts increase deficits, they don’t reduce them.
The last time Republicans cut taxes for the rich and corporations, it cost the federal government $2 trillion―with the majority going to the rich and corporations.
President Biden responded this week with a budget of his own, and it couldn’t be more different:
Act now! Click here to send a message to your senators and representative and tell them to pass President Biden’s 2025 budget that invests in our future―paid for by making the wealthy and big corporations pay their fair share.
At a time when working families are struggling to pay for everything from healthcare to education to housing to food, it’s time for the wealthy to pay their fair share in taxes so we can lower costs for millions of households across the country.
Thank you for taking action today,

[1] Reversing Course: GOP’s Backward Budget
-- David's email --
John,
The priorities of Congressional Republicans are pretty simple: Tax breaks for the wealthy and corporations, paid for through cuts to critical services for working families.
This week, President Biden released his 2025 budget, which flips Republican priorities on their head:
Biden’s plan is exactly what we’re fighting for: taxing the rich and corporations to preserve and expand critical services for working families. We know that when the wealthy and big corporations pay their fair share in taxes, we can lower the costs working families pay for healthcare, childcare, education, and more.
Click here to send a message to your senators and representative urging them to pass Biden’s budget, which is an investment in our country and our future.
At a time when Republicans from Donald Trump to GOP Budget Committee Chair Jodey Arrington are calling for cuts to Social Security, Biden’s budget would expand Social Security and extend the lifespan of the trust fund by making millionaires and billionaires pay into Social Security on a larger share of their income.
All told, President Biden’s budget proposes raising nearly $5.3 trillion in tax revenue over the next decade by making millionaires, billionaires, and large profitable corporations pay their fair share in taxes. He’d use $2.3 trillion to preserve and expand vital public services for working families and use the rest―nearly $3 trillion―to reduce the national debt.
Take action now. Write to your senators and representative and tell them to pass President Biden’s budget to increase taxes on the rich and big corporations, and invest that new revenue in our future.
Together, we’re fighting for an economy and a tax system that put working people first.
Thank you,
