Friend-
I hope you and your family are staying safe and healthy. The
unprecedented worldwide response to this pandemic has presented many
unforeseen challenges to each of us. While the uncertainty is both
stressful and unnerving, it warms my heart to see so many in our
community working together to help fill the cracks left by the spread
of COVID-19. Thank you to our medical professionals, first responders,
grocery and pharmacy employees, and other community leaders for your
dedication to take care of us all.
As business and government operations have been adversely affected
by the efforts to slow the spread of this virus, we continue to work
to provide you services in the Secretary of State’s Office. A few
weeks ago, we suspended in-person customer service in our offices
across the state to protect the health and safety of our customers and
staff. I am proud to report that our team has worked hard to
seamlessly transition our customer service to online, mail, and phone
support while implementing social distancing requirements to prevent
disease spread.
I have been fortunate to lead this office for the past seven years
because of you. When you supported my 2012 goals of modernizing the
election system and making it easier to do business in Washington, you
were helping us prepare for this crisis. We spent years developing and
implementing two new statewide systems—the corporation and charities
filing system and the voter registration/elections management system.
Without the necessary upgrades to these systems, we would never be
able to provide our services in a time like this.
We were able to support county election officials as social
distancing measures were ramping up and, with record turnout,
successfully conduct and certify the March presidential primary. We
are continuing to provide customers the ability to manage their
personal affairs—from filing required business documents to certifying
international documents. Members of the Washington National Guard have
been able to get copies of their military service records so they can
serve their communities. The list could go on, but I have to say that
all of this started with you.
As we all know, the impacts of COVID-19 go further than the
important duties of the Secretary of State. The financial hardships
many of our neighbors are experiencing should not be overlooked. This
is why I decided that there are currently other worthy causes I would
ask you to donate to right now. I hope you will consider supporting
organizations like Bloodworks
Northwest and Northwest
Harvest as they supply our community with the resources needed to
combat the impacts of this virus.
If you are looking for ways to help our campaign, I’d invite you to
share
our website with your friends or endorse
our campaign! My campaign and my time as Secretary of State would
be nothing without the support of people like you. By
adding your name to my campaign’s endorsement list, we can
demonstrate our campaign isn’t about partisan politics. As it has been
from the start, our campaign is about serving each and every person in
our state in a nonpartisan manner.
Again, I hope you and your loved ones are staying heathy and safe.
Together we will get through these hard times and come out stronger
than ever.
Warmly,
Kim Wyman KimWyman.com
