Our Next Forum, an NDIS Review deep dive, and more...

To our EAC community,

I hope this newsletter finds you well.

Over recent weeks we have been working with the University of Sydney to analyse what you had to say in our NDIS Review Recommendations Survey. We had a fantastic response. We received over 1200 responses and nearly 2,500 individual comments in addition to the feedback you gave us during our online forums.

Thank you for taking the time to have your say. It has really helped us to understand what you really think about the recommendations and now we can prioritise what really matters to our community. Thank you also to everyone who took part in our forums and who wrote to us. Everything that you said will be included as we develop our advocacy priorities.

So, what happens next?

We are hosting a forum via Zoom on 8 April 12pm AEST to go through the results of what you had to say and hear from you about what action we should take to ensure that the NDIS meets the needs of our community.

Go deep into the NDIS Review

We are still hoping to bring you an interview with the Minister regarding the government response to the NDIS Review. We are waiting for his office to get back to us with a date.
Meanwhile, I have brought together experts from our community to do a deep dive into the recommendations. There was quite a lot to talk about, so we have 2 separate podcasts that you can access here on your favourite platform.

The NDIS Review housing and living recommendations are "outdated and unethical"

The above image was drawn by Peter to help visually represent his concerns about the NDIS Review.

The issues identified through the NDIS Review are not new or unexpected. However, the solutions proposed create a level of bureaucratic overreach that intrudes into people’s lives and does not align with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disability (UNCRPD)....
