Urge Taylor Swift to continue to use her platform and media attention to register more voters!
John,
On Super Tuesday, Taylor Swift made headlines for sharing a voter registration link on her Instagram stories, encouraging her 282 million followers to vote.1 And just today, The Guardian published an article on how Taylor Swift fans are "the voting bloc that could decide the US election."2 As one of the most influential celebrities in the world, Taylor Swift has tremendous power to mobilize young people to engage in our democracy, so we are asking her to do even more.
Swift had a clear and popular message—" ... vote the people who most represent YOU into power"—as she instructed people to go to Vote.org to make a plan to vote.3 Nearly half of eligible voters do not consistently exercise their right to vote. But as Marcela Valdes said, "a 'nonvoter' can transform into a voter at any time,"3 and prominent celebrity figures like Swift can help make the process more relatable and accessible.
Every eligible person in our country should not only be encouraged to vote, but given the resources to do so. The foundation of our democracy literally depends on it. But Swift is already facing backlash from far-right conservatives who—from spreading misinformation to undermining voting rights—seek to make voting inaccessible.
Thanks!

Sign the petition to call on Taylor Swift to use media buzz to help register more voters!
Dear MoveOn member,
Taylor Swift is one of the most influential artists of the past decade. She has the opportunity this year to use her influence for good by helping register new voters ahead of the 2024 general election. And with 41 million Gen Z voters eligible for the first time this election, we need celebrities like Taylor Swift to use their platform to mobilize people to the polls.5
Taylor Swift endorsed President Joe Biden in 2020 and tweeted that "we will vote [Donald Trump] out."7 So it's no surprise that far-right Republicans and twice-impeached and disgraced former President Donald Trump are already starting to spread their anti-Swift propaganda and conspiracy theories.8 MAGA supporters are afraid of Swift's success and cultural power, and they are doing everything they can to dissuade the influential artist from using her voice to make a difference in this election.
In a recent interview with The Guardian, one voter confirmed that Swift could "potentially, absolutely change my mind politically."9 And she's not alone. Last year, Swift posted an Instagram story with a Vote.org link, and the organization reported more than 35,000 voter registrations following her post—in just 24 hours.10 We need Taylor Swift's reach and enthusiasm headed into a high-stakes general election this fall.
The media love to report on Taylor Swift. Following the announcement of her relationship with Kansas City tight end Travis Kelce, she has been a common sighting at NFL games—with press panning to her every chance they get. And now she may even make an appearance at the 2024 Super Bowl, one of the most marketable events, with more than 100 million viewers.
But her reach extends even beyond the 2024 Super Bowl. Swift has a new album coming out in April and the continuation of her viral and successful Eras Tour, assuring that she will continue to be in the media spotlight for the rest of the year (and, let’s be honest, for years to come).
Taylor Swift has broken records at the Grammys, American Music Awards, and on the Billboard top charts. She routinely sells out stadiums for her shows, and the Eras Tour is the highest-grossing tour of all time—even higher than Elton John’s Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour.11 Add your name to call on Taylor Swift to help break even more records this election by helping to register voters.
Thanks for all you do.

Want to support MoveOn's work? The MAGA movement's book bans have forced teachers and librarians across the country to remove books from their shelves and censor what young people can learn. MoveOn is fighting back, including by filling a "Banned Bookmobile" with books that the far right has banned and driving it to key cities and towns to raise the visibility of book bans, hand out banned books for free, and bring people together to stop censorship. To keep up the fight against book bans and the MAGA politicians who support them, we need your help.
