I hope this message finds you well, and that you are staying safe during these uncertain times. I want to be completely transparent with you about the state of our campaign.

Midnight tomorrow is our first FEC fundraising deadline of 2020, and normally I would be sending you a ton of emails asking you to donate. As you might have noticed, my campaign has brought our fundraising operations to a halt over the past two weeks, because I know that now more than ever, Americans need to be holding on to their money. Over 80% of the donations my campaign receives are donations of less than $100, often from working-class folks in the Upstate whose jobs or hours might be in jeopardy right now.

If you are experiencing financial hardship right now, please do not donate to my campaign. It's hard to say how long this pandemic will go on for, and right now is not the time to be spending your money on anything but yourself and your family.

For those of you who aren't experiencing financial hardship as a result of this pandemic, here's what I'll say: The way that we prevent a catastrophe like the one we are witnessing right now is by funding public health and by making sure that public health is represented in Washington. I'm a public health professional with a Masters of Public Health in health policy - I'm the exact kind of person that will fight for public health in Congress and work to prevent a pandemic like this from ever occurring again.
