Donald Trump told CNBC that he is willing to cut Social Security – just four days after President Biden pledged in his State of the Union to oppose cuts and make the wealthy pay their fair share. Now, Biden is taking Trump to task for it.

The Hill: Biden hits Trump for Social Security and Medicare comments: ‘He’s still at it’
This sets up one of the top contrasts in 2024 that voters must pay attention to.

Answering a question about Social Security, Trump told CNBC on Monday, March 11 that, "There is a lot you can do in terms of entitlements in terms of cutting."
In his State of the Union address, Biden said, "Anyone here tries to cut Social Security or Medicare or raise the retirement age, I will stop you…We have two ways to go. Republicans can cut Social Security and give more tax breaks to the wealthy… I'll protect and strengthen Social Security and make the wealthy pay their fair share."
Since then, Biden has been even more forceful at multiple battleground-state campaign events and in a video that's been viewed over a million times on social media. And he is using verbatim the Progressive Change Campaign Committee and Data For Progress's top recommended language (as reported in advance by Politico and RealClear Politics) for driving contrast on the economy.
Democrats are united in wanting to protect Social Security and make billionaires pay their fair share, while Trump and Republicans want to cut Social Security in order to cut taxes for billionaires.
Thanks for being a bold progressive.
