Highlighting Mississippians Impacting the World
Mississippi is home to some incredible people who are making a difference all over the world. One example is former Mississippi State University baseball player Matthew Ramsey. Matthew is the Artemis II Mission Manager and is making Mississippi proud. Read more about Matthew here:
Meeting with Fellow Mississippians in D.C.
It was great visiting with State Representative Timaka James-Jones and members of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.
I enjoyed visiting with the Sledge family and showing them around the Capitol.
I’m always excited to meet with constituents from our district when they visit D.C. Thank you to Ray and Mary Gean Perry for stopping by my office and saying hello. If you will be in D.C. and would like to schedule a Capitol tour with my office, be sure to reach out at 202-225-5031.
District Outreach
My staff stopped by the Soulshine Pizza Gluckstadt ribbon cutting last week. I’m excited to see businesses thriving and growing across our district.
I recently stopped by the 172nd Airlift Wing of the Mississippi Air National Guard to meet with firefighters and first responders. Thank you to everyone serving on the front lines each and every day.
Holding the Biden Administration Accountable
‘“Laken Riley was murdered by an illegal immigrant,’ Rep. Michael Guest, R-Miss., told The Daily Signal, referring to the illegal alien from Venezuela charged with murder in the 22-year-old nursing student’s bludgeoning death Feb. 22 on the University of Georgia campus in Athens, Georgia.” Read More Here.
Stopping the Chinese Communist Party
I voted today to advance H.R. 7521, the bipartisan Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act. H.R. 7521 passed the U. S. House of Representatives by an overwhelming majority.
The bill requires ByteDance, a company affiliated with the Chinese government, to divest its ownership of TikTok - a popular social media app - to an American company or risk losing access to their American users.
Putting an end to Communist Chinese Party influence in our everyday lives is important for the security of our nation. We must remember that the CCP is not our ally.
I previously introduced legislation banning TikTok from government-owned devices.
