John --

I hope you and your family are safe and healthy.

These are not normal times, and it would be wrong to pretend otherwise. In a moment, I'm going to ask you for a donation to our campaign for the U.S. Senate, but first let me share some thoughts on what is going on right now.

Alaska was already facing deep economic problems before the coronavirus pandemic even started. The coronavirus pandemic will no doubt hurt the economy further, and I know many are scared of what the future may hold for their families in these uncertain times.

But I remain optimistic, John. I believe in Alaskans.

We are tough, resilient, and caring people.

We know how to hunker down for a long winter. We catch and vacuum pack fish to fill our freezers. We check in on our neighbors to make sure they have enough food and are safe. We know how to lift each other up.

Surviving this crisis will involve all of us doing our part.

If we all practice physical distancing, assist local businesses, lend a hand to those who need it, and give our medical personnel the support they require, we will defeat COVID-19 and get through this together.

Both the coronavirus pandemic and the economic downturn it is causing demand that we end the failed status quo in Washington. A health care system that's the most expensive in the world and leaves millions uninsured or underinsured will continue to put our nation at risk.

If we don't end it, another crisis will come, our so-called leaders will disregard facts and lie, and a broken health care system will cost too many Americans the care they need.

I'm a doctor with a masters degree in public health.

I decided to run for the U.S. Senate long before the coronavirus hit because I fed up with politicians like Dan Sullivan and Mitch McConnell who listen to special interests instead of experts and people like you and me.

John, I will always fight to protect the health and security of you and your family. If you're with me to deliver a prescription for change to Washington, please chip in $5 or more before Tuesday's FEC deadline at midnight. Each donation we get is helping us build a campaign that will be as resilient, independent, and as tough as our people and our land.

Stay safe,

Dr. Al Gross
