Friend,
I just got off the Senate floor, and wanted to give you a quick update on the state budget situation. The Senate just passed the GOP budget and, let me tell you, it's not aligning with the vision both Governor Beshear and we Democrats have been working so hard to build for Kentucky.
As Senate Democratic Caucus Leader, I’ve been working alongside Governor Beshear to fight for his budget proposal—a budget that made transformative investments in education, infrastructure, healthcare, and public safety. We've got the largest General Fund surplus and rainy day fund in Kentucky’s history, and now is the time to use them wisely to improve the lives of every Kentuckian.
But the GOP seems to have a different plan. With no funding for things like universal pre-K and raises for school employees, and not enough funding for critical infrastructure and healthcare needs, they’re choosing not to invest in you. Instead of moving forward together, they want to take us backward, leaving some Kentuckians behind.
We can’t stop working to move Kentucky forward. And that means raising money to invest in state legislative races so we can elect more Kentuckians who aren’t afraid to invest in and advocate for their neighbors. We can shift the dynamic in the legislature and invest in the people of Kentucky. Your support makes a real difference.
