Hello John,
Whether we live in the city or country, frontline or fenceline, most of us want to ensure a bright future for our communities.
From Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico in 2017 to the ongoing wildfires still ablaze in Texas, real, everyday people impacted first and worst by climate disaster are organizing for reimagined energy systems. We already have our vision: local, clean, and reliable energy systems controlled by communities are critical tools for thriving in an era of climate catastrophe.
But federal agencies like FEMA seem to think otherwise.

Power company executives, shareholders, and irresponsible power authorities are using disaster funds to invest in fossil fuels that benefit corporate interests. Community-members have already voiced their disagreement, affirming instead Queremos Sol: we want sun in the form of local, right-sized rooftop solar, battery, and efficiency installations that don’t harm land or people. Now, FEMA administrator Deanne Criswell is making a dangerous decision THIS FRIDAY (03/15) to give billions of our tax dollars to fund unsustainable business practices in Puerto Rico, rather than to the people who need it most.
Take action in two easy steps before this Friday's devastating proposal is approved by FEMA:
Step 1: Sign on to our Action Demand ([link removed])
Step 2: Spread the word ([link removed])
We know that energy is a vital resource for survival. When FEMA chooses to spend our tax dollars on dirty fossil fuels, the agency is choosing corporate profits over the people of Puerto Rico, and over all of us. For us to advocate for a reimagined renewable energy system that prioritizes community control, care, and decision-making power, we need to act together.
Grateful to move with you,
Selena Feliciano
