John,
Social media is wreaking havoc on the lives of our youth because of a twisted business model that maximizes engagement with negative and extreme content for profit. While girls are disproportionately hurt by these unchecked platforms, we’re beginning to learn about the hidden harms to boys — sextortion, bigorexia, mental health challenges, and more.
Join us on Wednesday, March 20, at 10am ET for “Silent Struggles: The Negative Impact of Social Media on Boys” — an event that will bring together a panel of experts and researchers to discuss these harms and the ways boys get hurt by these business models that value profits over people. Panelists will help shed light on the inner workings of these platforms and offer suggestions for the types of platform changes and policy fixes that would help protect the well-being of boys online.
The panel will be moderated by writer and New York Times reporter Alex Hawgood and feature the following panelists:
-
Imran Ahmed: Founder and CEO of the Center for Countering Digital Hate
-
Thanasi Dilos: Co-founder of Civics Unplugged
-
Dr. Mitch Prinstein: Chief Science Officer at the American Psychological Association
We hope you’ll join us for this important conversation.

P.S. If you can’t make it, RSVP to receive a link to the recording and catch up at your convenience.
