When I was young, my mom would rise early to drive a school bus, teach all day, and bus students home. In the summers, she was a farm worker. That’s how she put food on our table.

As the proud product of Oregon public schools, and having been raised by an educator, there is no support more precious to me than that of educators. They are some of the hardest working (and most underpaid) members of our communities, nurturing young minds and building a brighter future. Their work is foundational to our families, our communities, our economy, and our democracy.

So you can imagine how emotional and how proud I was to have received the support of the Oregon Education Association!

As a state organization, their support is a recommendation to the national association for official endorsement. But you know that when those doing the tough work of educating our students and electing our state’s leaders recognize your work -- bringing people together to solve problems and make life better for Oregoinans -- that you’re on the right track.
