Hi friend,

When our voting rights are under attack, we stand up and fight back.

A healthy democracy is necessary when we want to pass legislation that protects our most vulnerable communities and natural spaces. We need to do everything we can to ensure that the freedom to vote is universal and unwavering.

Friend, two bills have been introduced in Congress that are essential for you to know — the Freedom to Vote Act and the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act.

These two pieces of critical legislation would ensure that every eligible voter, no matter their background or residence — from Latine neighborhoods in Texas to Native American tribes in Arizona, to African American communities in Alabama — can freely access the voting booth and are safeguarded from legislative actions that seek to undermine democracy.

Friend, if you believe these bills should become law, sign our petition to push Congress to vote Yes >> [link removed]

These two bills are aimed at rejuvenating and updating the protections offered by the original Voting Rights Act. They propose establishing nationwide voting standards to improve ballot access, eliminate both partisan and race-based redistricting, shield elections from external influences, and enhance campaign finance transparency to deter the influence of undisclosed donations, among other measures.

Ensuring that access to voting is widespread and strong is key to our efforts to tackle the climate crisis equitably. Getting more people out to vote is how we are able to get grassroots-supported climate champions elected and remove corporate-backed candidates.

Congress has a duty to pass these two critical bills for protecting the integrity of our democracy.

So friend, sign our petition to Congress: Restore the Voting Rights Act and our freedom to vote by passing the Freedom to Vote Act and the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act >> [link removed]

Thank you for defending this fundamental freedom!
