We are all saddened by the recent news out of Oregon. Measure 110 has been rolled back, drug possession recriminalized, and a failed drug war approach reinstated.
At this moment, we acknowledge the real challenges our communities are facing. We recognize criminalization for the false promise of change that it is. And we reaffirm our vision for what a healthy and thriving society can and should be.
I sat down with ED Kassandra Frederique to get her take on what happened in Oregon. Watch and share our new video to see why at this moment more than ever, drug "decriminalization is a part of a tapestry of interventions that our society needs."
This is not the end of our fight, just a detour. And our vision – that people get the resources that they need to thrive – has not changed. We will continue to push for drug policy shaped by love, not war.
Sincerely,
Gabriella Miyares
