Before I launched my first congressional campaign in 2017, I sought advice from experienced operatives and organizations.

They told me I couldn't run for office -- because I couldn't raise more than a million dollars from my personal contacts.

Democracy shouldn't be open only to a select few. Our politics should not be driven and governed by money. It should be about hearing the voices of the people and ensuring the participation of everybody in our system.

That's why I never have and never will accept corporate PAC money. That's why I support reforms that will bring us campaigns that are people-powered, not big-money-powered.

And that's why I'm counting on grassroots supporters like you to fuel our campaign now and meet our critical end-of-quarter goal.
