[1]U.S. Senator Chris Murphy

We have a bit of a dilemma, and need to ask if you can spare a donation today. Here’s why:

One of the starkest contrasts for Chris Murphy’s re-election is that we don’t fund our campaign the way Washington insiders typically tell candidates to do it — especially Republicans.

A lot of politicians follow a big-money strategy. They think it’s easier — exchanging access and influence for big money corporations and PACs that fund their campaigns and super PACs. It brings in millions of dollars for them.

That’s not Chris. He understands that real change comes from the bottom up. The power is with the people, and the way to make real and lasting change is when we all do our part. That’s why we’ve built a true grassroots-funded campaign.

The challenge here is it does make our job harder at times. Like today. The truth is our average contribution has fallen considerably this quarter. It’s more than a third less than what it was last year. The timing is bad when our first FEC deadline of an election year is just a couple weeks away.

So we have two choices for how to solve this:
We need more individual donations, or
We need people to give just a tiny bit more than normal.

Usually we ask people making their first online donation to donate $3. But now that you understand the challenge we’re facing, we’re asking if you can do a bit more.

Can you contribute $10 to Chris Murphy’s re-election today? It would go a long way toward helping us compete with the millions that Republicans and dark money groups are raising to undo our progress.

Look, it may seem like a significant challenge to overcome, but they’re no match for what our movement can do together.

Thank you for pitching in. Every donation means Chris can spend more time focused on the important work, not worry about fundraising.
