Hi,

When Demand Progress Action and our allies began calling for a ceasefire
in Gaza, we found very little support in Washington, D.C.

Since then, public awareness about the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza
has grown tremendously, and real momentum is growing on Capitol Hill, with
more and more members of Congress calling for a ceasefire.^1

Our efforts are working — but we must keep pushing. The violence must
stop, hostages must be freed, innocent captives must be released, and
humanitarian aid must flow freely.

Last week, we announced a major new coalition, with 40 organizations
calling for an immediate, permanent ceasefire. We've already mobilized
more than 150,000 actions to policymakers, including phone calls, in
support of a ceasefire. Now we need to ramp up even more.

Not long ago, we would have been hard-pressed to find even two or three
U.S. senators willing to support a ceasefire. Now, with war spreading
across the region and unimaginable human suffering in Gaza, our voices are
being heard.

One-third of Senate Democrats endorsed an amendment conditioning aid by
requiring that Israel use U.S. weapons in accordance with U.S. and
international law.^2

President Biden and key leaders in Congress are warning Benjamin Netanyahu
not to follow through with plans for a ground invasion of Rafah, the tiny
strip of land at the extreme southern tip of Gaza, where over one million
people are huddling without food or shelter, after having been told by
Israel to evacuate south for safety.^3

Meanwhile, the Biden administration has begun taking more aggressive
action to provide humanitarian aid, including air drops and building a
temporary dock on the Gaza shoreline to allow large-scale delivery of
food, medicine, and other lifesaving aid.^4

Let's be clear: The only way to end this current conflict that is
threatening to grow across the Middle East is with diplomatic solutions.
