Breaking Commentary Campaign Update March 13, 2024 Most of us have learned of the story of the tragic murder of Laken Riley, the University of Georgia nursing student who was murdered while jogging on campus. She was murdered, allegedly by Antonio Ibarra, an illegal immigrant from Venezuela, who had already been held by Athens, GA police for theft from a local Walmart. Outrage has centered on the fact that GA police had Ibarra in custody but failed to turn him over to Immigration authorities (ICE). Normal Americans consider the lenient treatment of illegal immigrants in our country an irresponsible menace to the public... or worse. As a result of this episode, House leadership put up H.R. 7511, the ‘Laken Riley Act’ for a vote. The bill calls for the detention by ICE of illegal immigrants implicated in local theft or burglary charges. Bottom line is that Ibarra never should have been free to commit the heinous crime. Laken Riley is just the latest in long list of victims of illegal immigrant crime over the past decade and more. The Laken Riley Act seeks to finally prevent such horrific crimes going forward. And infuriatingly, Jim Himes voted AGAINST the Laken Riley Act! You could give his Stamford office a piece of your mind over his continued mis-representation of our interests at 203-353-9400. Let him and his staff explain his latest vote against the citizenry he’s sworn to protect. Meanwhile, in this update I planned to recount some recent campaign activities, but Mr. Himes had to strike with yet another vote which could not go un-noted. In other campaign news.......... There are 17 towns in the 4th District. I’ve presented my candidacy to each of them over the past year, and I’m now coming back thru each with an update, seeking feedback, answering questions, networking and gathering support with an eye toward the nominating convention in May. Reception has been positive, and always includes a group of members who are enthusiastic that there’s a fighter taking a bead on the always slippery and deceptive, Jim Himes. In recent months I’ve met with small business leaders at several meetings of the Bridgeport Regional Business Council. I was the keynote speaker at the January meeting of the Fairfield County Commercial Brokers Network. I discussed the challenges of Affordable Housing with the directors of Connecticut Housing Partners. Pitched my candidacy to a meeting of the Greater Education Council of Connecticut. Was interviewed about my book, The Seventh Crisis, on Public TV. Met some solid activists at the Connecticut Republican Assembly annual convention. Met Congressman James Comer, Chair of the House Oversight Committee. At CPAC I met Congressman Matt Gaetz, former Congressman Dave Bratt, and gave a brief pitch for my candidacy on Steve Bannon’s live podcast. I also met the great Brit, Nigel Farage, originator and leader of the BREXIT movement. Overcoming the challenges, as many of these leaders have, provides continual inspiration for my efforts in this campaign. As I elaborated in an update earlier this year, the solutions to many of our national challenges lie in the following: · Securing Our Border · Cutting Inflation and Restoring our Economy · Unwavering Support for Parents’ Rights · Reclaiming Our Energy Independence · Crushing Crime and Restoring Public Safety · Offering Security, Opportunities and Choice in Our Cities · A Smart Peace-Through-Strength, Strong National Defense It’s been a generation or more since all the major issues, most important to a majority of Americans, have been firmly aligned with our principles and legislative efforts. The political terrain before us is fertile for our message. I’ll be doing everything possible in the next eight months to gather the support and ultimately the votes to prevail in unseating Mr. Himes in November. Radical Jim Himes is NO Moderate The 2024 election will be a referendum on Jim Himes' failed 15-year rule. Solid citizens can donate to retire this man right here: DONATE It's critical for my campaign, and would be deeply appreciated.
