Our last Donor Story - for now!
In our final installment of our Donor Stories project, we are excited to introduce you to Tseganesh and Tehout Selameab, Tseganesh and Tehout are sisters – only 18 months apart – that bring their family’s commitment to caring for others to their work for justice.
Both Tseganesh and Tehout are powerful, driven, and thoughtful and bring pride in their Ethiopian heritage, Blackness, and womanhood as a lens that informs how they show up in and for their communities. In their story, they share how growing up as immigrants in the Midwest shaped their understanding of race and class in America and ignited their passion for working for equity and prosperity for all.
We hope you’ll take time to hear from Tseganesh and Tehout about what drives their dedication to community and Headwaters –

Welcoming Anitra to the team
Headwaters recently welcomed Anitra Cottledge as our new Director of Programs! As Program Director, she will lead and support the program team to advance Headwaters' mission and grantmaking programs. Her experience in program leadership and development, as well as her commitment to creative, feminist, and Afrofuturist changemaking make her right at home at Headwaters, where she works to drive that change through philanthropy and donor organizing. ICYMI: New Native Theatre is reclaiming the stage
Last month, we launched our very first spotlight as part of a series featuring our 2023 Bush Prize: Minnesota winners. Founded in 2009 by Navajo playwright Rhiana Yazzie, New Native Theatre reclaims storytelling for Native communities in ways that go beyond the stories themselves. As a Native-centered theatre company, their work is about healing, centering Indigenous values, and reclaiming the narrative. As Yazzie says in the spotlight, at New Native Theatre, "it's not just art, it's our lifeways." Check it out if you haven't had the chance to!
