This is not the letter I expected to write.
Then again, nothing has gone according to plan.

We’ve spent 13 months traveling across the state, won a majority of the
caucuses, and captured every county assembly since then. But I’d trade all
that in a heartbeat—along with the Senate seat itself—for a cure to this
pandemic.

That’s not how life works, of course. So here’s what I promise instead: my
team and I will work as hard as we can to unite the Democratic Party,
secure this nomination, and carry our hopes to victory—one that moves our
nation forward—in November.

The next 36 hours will tell us whether that’s possible. That’s how little
time we have left until tomorrow night’s FEC deadline—the last we’ll face
before the state convention.

Let me be candid: raising money is the worst
part of this job. But it’s nothing compared to the struggles so many
people are experiencing right now.

I joined this race, as I said in my announcement, because I don’t want
anyone to suffer or die on account of problems we can solve. That’s not a
partisan point—it’s a cause that unites us all.
