When We All Vote

Hi John,

I’m Beth, and I am so excited to share that I’m the new Executive Director of When We All Vote. Stepping into this role feels like a homecoming, and I am honored to carry the torch forward, building on this organization’s strong foundation.

Our next chapter starts now.

My commitment to When We All Vote’s mission and civil rights is not just professional — it is personal and deeply rooted in my family history. As a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., I walk strong in the footsteps of our founders, whose first act of service was to participate in the 1913 Women’s Suffrage March — although Black women were forced to march in the back. My mother was a part of the first class to integrate her high school in Detroit, Michigan. My father played a pivotal role in the Harvard student strike of 1969, which left a permanent mark on the university's commitment to African American studies. I carry this legacy with me as we embark on this new journey together.

I have always sought to make a difference through the work I do each day. That commitment flows through my work enrolling people in health insurance in the suburbs of Chicago, IL, during the early days following the passage of the Affordable Care Act, to working on Capitol Hill to advocate for reproductive health care at Planned Parenthood Federation of America, to ensuring everyone was counted in the 2020 Census.

The 2024 election cycle is already underway, and I’m honored to step in to lead When We All Vote at a time when our work has never been more urgent. 2024 is going to be our biggest year yet.

Empowering Black and Brown voices, increasing access to the ballot box, and championing voting rights is a passion I will carry with me every day. During my first week at When We All Vote, I met with Vice President Harris and voting rights leaders from across the country to reaffirm our commitment to protecting our sacred right to vote. Together, we can harness the power of voting and continue working towards a future where every voice is heard.

The When We All Vote community is a big part of my excitement for joining this team. Together, we can combat emerging distrust in the voting process through optimism and our stories of self. Here's to a future filled with empowerment, inclusivity, and all things voting — because when we all vote, we can shape a better future for us all.

I’m looking forward to being in touch and continuing to learn about the entire When We All Vote community — from our volunteers and My School Votes ambassadors to our partners and supporters. Here are three actions you can take right now:
