Dear Friend,
Things look bad now, but take heart.
Yes, stories are pouring in from all over the county and all over the world of the great hardships wreaked by this outbreak. But amidst these come stories of hope.
All over America, good people are coming together to fight COVID-19 in unique and inventive ways, showcasing the ingenuity and staggering might of the American spirit.
We showed the world that we will not be cowed by this disease. Throughout our history, America is never stronger, never more united, than when we face so great a challenge as this.
We are still the nation that won independence from tyranny.
We are still the nation that stormed the beaches at Normandy.
We are still the nation that put a man on the moon.
We beat the odds then… and we will beat this, too.
And so I urge you to continue standing strong in the face of adversity. Do what you can to cooperate in the effort to flatten the curve. Follow the guidance of the CDC. Maintain your social distancing. Wash your hands. Monitor your own health and the health of your loved ones. Thank and support the heroic medical professionals working tirelessly to combat this outbreak.
And, above all, take comfort in each other. Be strong together.
Our country is counting on us.
