Friends, at breakneck speed Biden has reportedly threatened to remove support if Israel moves against the final Hamas stronghold in Rafa. Why is Biden running defense for Hamas?!
President Biden is reportedly considering conditioning military aid to Israel if Jerusalem proceeds with its offensive in the southern Gaza Strip city of Rafah, the last Hamas stronghold in the region. "Politico" cited four U.S. officials familiar with internal administration discussions, indicating that this option is under serious consideration.
Biden's remarks on this matter exhibit a typical political double-speak, where he initially outlined a red line concerning the invasion of Rafah, only to clarify shortly after that he remains committed to Israel's defense and would not withdraw all military support, emphasizing the importance of the Iron Dome defense system.
The potential move to condition military aid comes amid ongoing tensions between Israel and Hamas, with the latter launching numerous rocket attacks into Israeli territory and the former responding with airstrikes targeting Hamas infrastructure in Gaza.
He mentioned that surpassing a threshold of civilian casualties would be another red line, citing Hamas's claim of 30,000 Palestinian fatalities, a figure disputed by Israel, which maintains that around 13,000 of those killed were Hamas militants.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded to Biden's statements, emphasizing the strategic necessity of neutralizing Hamas's presence in Rafah to prevent the organization's resurgence and future attacks on Israel.

While an Israeli military official indicated that an incursion into Rafah is not imminent and requires evacuation preparations, polling data from the Israel Democracy Institute reveals widespread support among Jewish Israelis (75%) and the majority of the population for expanding military operations against Hamas to include Rafah. These findings suggest a broad consensus among Israelis regarding the necessity of military action to address security threats posed by Hamas.
