No images? Click here Dear John, We're hoping that you and your family are doing well during this increasingly tough time. One of the things we've been working on is urging Congress to support farmers, ranchers, fishers, and farm- and food-workers in the stimulus bill. Specifically, we're calling for systemic reform to build resilience for all producers, workers, and eaters and investment in building out critical infrastructure between local and regional food producers and families in need of healthy food. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 stimulus bills passed in Congress don't go far enough to ensure that all the people who produce our food are supported. You can help: Take Action with Farm Aid now and tell Congress to ensure that all farmers, ranchers and fishermen are included in any COVID-19 stimulus package, particularly small and mid-sized operations, farms operated by farmers of color, and tribal nations who are often left out of federal farm policy. If you're in the food and agriculture industry and have been impacted by the recent COVID-19 outbreak, there are a number of resources that can provide support. We're compiling a list of the various resources available and we're continually updating this page with articles and resources for farmers and ranchers across the country. Let us know if you have a resource that we should include. Spring is here! If you're planting a garden this year, it's time to start planning, which may mean strategizing about raised beds. Usually made out of wood planks, concrete blocks, bricks, or other recycled materials, a raised bed gives you lots of control over your garden. Learn why you might want to use them, and how to make them in our HOMEGROWN 101. As Willie Nelson says: Stay strong and positive! And, don't forget we have playlists to keep your spirits high. |
