Friends,

The last few weeks have seen events unprecedented in the history of our country and I want you to know I am fighting tirelessly, working across party lines and with Governor DeWine, to help our communities get through the coronavirus crisis.

As the Republican leader on the House Committee on Small Business, I have been especially focused on securing the support our Ohio small businesses need to weather this storm and emerge stronger on the other side.

Below is an update on my work to support our small businesses, our health care system, and hardworking Ohio families through these challenging times. While times are tough, I am hearted by the outpouring of support from across our communities and the resilience Ohio has demonstrated.

Check below for new resources that are available to you.

I worked across party lines to pass the bipartisan Families First Coronavirus Act. The act provides $1.2 billion to help cover the costs of coronavirus testing, $1.25 billion for emergency nutritional assistance for seniors, children, and low-income individuals, and $15 million in tax credits to help small businesses.

Members from both parties also came together to pass the Coronavirus Preparedness and Response Supplemental Appropriations Act to provide $7.8 billion in emergency appropriations for equipment for health officials and $1 billion for the CDC’s state and local response efforts.

Finally, as you have probably seen on the news, Congress unanimously passed an economic stimulus package that provides direct relief for families, small businesses, and industries affected by COVID-19. The stimulus package includes:

· Direct payments of $1,200 for individuals earning less than $75,000 annually, $1,200 for heads of household earning less than $112,500, $2,400 for couples earning less than $150,000, and an additional $500 per child

· Expanded access for small business loans up to $10 million, on top of loans up to $2 million already offered by the Small Business Administration last week.

· Suspension of payments for all federally held student loans.

Donate Blood to the Red Cross

There are numerous opportunities to help out during the COVID-19 epidemic. Currently there is an urgent need for blood donors. To find out where or how to become a donor the Greater Cincinnati Red Cross [[link removed]] has a helpful how-to guide. Even if you cannot give blood you can donate or spread awareness by posting the information on your social media page.

Providing Relief for Small Businesses

This month, the Small Business Association took decisive action to combat the economic consequences of the COVID-19 epidemic by creating a new category of loans specifically for the current crisis. We must protect our small businesses in Ohio and ensure they are able to weather the temporary storm. Learn more here: [[link removed]]
