Patriot,
When the government pushes a bill to "protect you," know you're
about to give up freedoms that you'll never, ever get back.
Congress lurched into action last week to RAM radical legislation
through the House which would effectively ban TikTok, one of the
most popular social media apps in America.
I may not be a fan of TikTok myself, much less a user of the
platform, but banning it takes us down a very, very dangerous
path.
Congress rushed to pass this anti-liberty bill through committee
before the public had even heard of the bill.
The bill was introduced last Tuesday, passed out of committee
last Thursday, and faces a vote on the House floor tomorrow.
The last time a "TikTok ban" was proposed, the actual bill - the
RESTRICT Act - actually would have shut down free speech on the
Internet altogether.
Thanks to your mobilization, the RESTRICT Act was defeated.
But now, this new bill is the RESTRICT Act in disguise.
The president will be given the power to ban websites, not just
apps. The person breaking the new law is deemed to be the U.S.
(or offshore) website host or App Store, not the "foreign
adversary" - which means the law will be used to control American
entities, not Chinese entities.
Those who want to ban TikTok claim they want to protect
Americans' data from China.
But those same politicians have done NOTHING to stop federal
bureaucrats from illegally spying on you and me when American
companies - social media companies like Facebook, your cable
provider, your cell phone company - sell our private data to
them.
The new legislation - which flatly states it would ban TikTok in
the United States unless the company is sold - is flagrantly
unconstitutional. It establishes a dangerous precedent that
Congress - or the president - could simply ban companies they
don't like.
Banning TikTok would be a boon to its competitors, such as
Facebook.
This is the government picking winners and losers, against the
opinion of the American people who have the right to use whatever
social media apps they choose.
This bill is rushing through Congress and there may be a vote in
the House as soon as tomorrow. Send a message to your
representative and senators right now!

They are scrambling to pass this law this week because they know
opposition is rapidly mounting, including from TikTok's 150
million-plus American users.
And Congress is looking to ram this bill through despite other
bigger priorities like a budget and FISA Section 702 reform.
But they are dead set on banning TikTok instead.
In an official email, House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-LA)
referred to TikTok's defense of its obvious business interests as
a "propaganda campaign."
Scalise even called the outpouring of opposition to the bill
which overwhelmed congressional phone lines a "national security
concern."
He implied Americans calling in opposition to the bill were
victims of foreign propaganda!
Patriot, when our elected representatives accuse their own
constituents of being brainwashed for having contacted them, we
have a serious problem.
We at Campaign for Liberty will not be bullied, browbeaten, or
smeared in defense of our rights as Americans to oppose
dangerous, censorious legislation.
But we need every patriot to do their part. Click here to send
