March monthly meeting - fracktivists and pipeline fighters: new fossil fuel fights
Tuesday, March 12, 7;30 pm. On Zoom.
Fossil fuel companies are at it again, trying to grow their emissions on the backs of New Yorkers. Come hear about two new proposals to extend the reach of fossil fuels here in New York. Nick Katkevich from the Sierra Club will update us on a plan to expand a pipeline network in the Hudson Valley, and Eric Weltman from Food & Water Watch will tell us about a scheme to frack (yes, frack) in New York's Southern Tier. What can we do to help our allies elsewhere in the state? This promises to be a fiery meeting!

Climate Activism for Families with Young Children
In our latest podcast episode, Liat Olenick, who is co-founder and organizer at Climate Families NYC and an experienced public school educator, explains that young children can understand that climate pollution is bad, plus they love to solve problems. She describes how the youngest members of our society can participate in actions targeting the adults who can change the course of the climate crisis. It’s hard for people to ignore toddlers protesting outside of their homes, isn’t it? Delving into practical strategies and meaningful initiatives, this episode offers insights and inspiration for parents looking to engage their little ones in the fight against climate change. From simple lifestyle changes to community involvement, listeners will discover actionable steps to instill environmental awareness and activism in the next generation. Tune in to empower your family to make a positive impact on the planet!

Insure Our Future Global Week of Action: 105 actions in 31 different countries on 5 continents
On February 27th, organizations in NYC including Climate Defenders, NYCC, Rise and Resist, Third Act, Fridays for Future, Sunrise and 350 Brooklyn came together to lead the NYC March for the Insure Our Future Global Week of Action. Because the Fossil Fuel industry cannot survive without insurance, worldwide activists spent the week demanding that insurance companies insure our future, not fossil fuels! From murals in Uganda to bike rides around coal power plants in Bangladesh, and occupations in Houston and London, to community events in Peru and Colombia and murals in Uganda - last week has seen the full scope of the creativity, passion and global solidarity our movement can bring to bear. The NYC march began at NYPL, stopped at CHUBB, Tokio-Marine and AIG, and featured speeches by powerful frontline leaders like Roishetta Sibley Ozane, founder of The Vessel Project of Louisiana, and Hillary Taylor of the #StopEACOP campaign.
