Friend, young voters are demanding action from President Biden on key issues. Keep reading to learn more.
Climate action: The Biden administration has continued to approve fossil fuel projects, like the Willow oil drilling project in Alaska, that contradicts their investment in climate change solutions. And while record-breaking temperatures and natural disasters continue to devastate our communities, President Biden has still not declared a climate emergency.
Student loan debt: President Biden has successfully erased $136 billion in student loan debt, but only for a small fraction of borrowers who fit into specific groups. While this is a step in the right direction, Biden has still not followed through on his original promise of student loan debt forgiveness for all borrowers.
Abortion access: According to Tufts University, young voters listed abortion as the top issue influencing their vote in the 2022 election – more than any other age group. While the decision to overturn Roe v. Wade rests with the Supreme Court, including 3 Justices appointed by Donald Trump, Biden’s administration has not gone as far as it should in issuing executive orders to safeguard abortion access in every state.
As an intergenerational organization, Future Coalition is committed to amplifying the voices and needs of young people who are integral to our fight for progressive change – which is why we’re calling on our supporters to take action now.
