Today is Equal Pay Day.

This day signifies how far into the year a woman has to work in order to match the earnings of her male counterpart for the previous year. In 2024, that’s an extra two-and-a-half months.

American women earn just 84 cents for every dollar earned by men. And for women of color, mothers, and LGBTQ+ folks, the disparities are even greater.

Pay parity benefits all of us. When we support and uplift women, we strengthen entire communities – and our national economy.

I’ve been pleased to support equal pay legislation throughout my time in Congress – but it’s time Congress finishes the job and ends the gender wage gap once and for all.

Will you add your name to join me in calling for an end to wage discrimination?
DEMAND EQUAL PAY FOR EQUAL WORK
On a personal note, it’s important to me that you know that everyone in my office earns the same amount for the same work. I believe in leading by example – which is why I have made it a point to prioritize wage parity and to offer opportunities for advancement to women.

It is incumbent on all of us to take steps to address the inequities so many women face in the workplace so that we can close the gender pay gap for good.

Thank you for taking action.
