Friend, EMS and fire department funding might not be the “buzziest” issue this year, but it’s something that impacts our community every single day — whether we realize it or not.
Western Pennsylvania has been facing a major shortage of EMS and fire department workers, largely due to the lack of funding for these critical services. And our district’s EMS providers have been overextending their team to cover other communities where service providers are in high demand and short supply.
That’s why Lindsey just announced that volunteer fire departments and EMS providers across our district will receive $764,000 in state grants to ensure our first responders have the resources they need to serve our community.
Team, this is a strong step in the right direction, but like so much else in Harrisburg, this grant is just a bandaid. Lindsey knows our first responders need consistent funding that helps them stay afloat with rising costs and retain their workforce.
