In 2022, Kansas voters came together and resoundingly chose to protect abortion rights here in our state. Now, extremists in the State Legislature are trying to undermine the will of the voters — they’re pushing legislation that would force “abortion providers to ask patients why they want to terminate their pregnancies and report the answers to the state.” This is yet another attempt to put the government in the middle of personal health care decisions that should be between women and their doctors — and prevent Kansans from accessing the abortion services that we voted to preserve in our State Constitution. This is yet another reason that we need federal legislation restoring Roe v. Wade and making clear that every American, in every state, has the right to make their own reproductive health care decisions without the government standing in the way. Nobody should have to share the reasons for deeply personal health care decisions with the government in order to get care. Let’s show these anti-choice extremists that when they come after our rights, we’ll notice — even when they think they’re being clever about it. And we’ll fight hard to protect our freedoms. Every single time. -Sharice |
