Dear John,
The Biden administration is abandoning Israel. They are not announcing this in words, but rather in their actions. I believe the promise found in Genesis 12:3 -- in fact, I think America has been blessed by God over the last 75 years because we have stood with Israel.
Today, I am writing to you from Israel as part of a small American delegation of evangelicals who have traveled here following President Biden's State of the Union Address to meet with Israeli leaders, convey American Christians' support of Israel, and pray for them and their safety.
As you know, on October 7th, 2023, Israel was brutally and deliberately attacked by Hamas, an Islamic terror organization whose goal is the annihilation of Israel and its people.
The ongoing war has resulted in 30,000 casualties from both sides, and Israel remains threatened by those who seek to wipe them out.
Israel is already surrounded by enemies, which places them in a difficult enough position. However, politicians and leaders in The West are also becoming increasingly vocal regarding their opposition to Israel's defensive war.
Rep. Rashida Tlaib, a Democrat from the state of Michigan, denounced Israel as a "violent" and "apartheid" "military occupation." Meanwhile, the Biden administration has placed impossible demands on the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, while also taking weapons from Israel's defensive arsenal and transferring them to Ukraine. They have also increasingly backed away from supporting Israel as they bow to pressures from Pro-Palestinian and Muslim groups.
In fact, Sec. Blinken is directly undoing a Trump administration policy by telling Israel they cannot build in the biblical regions of Samaria and Judea, deceptively called the "West Bank." President Biden has even gone so far as to place sanctions on some Israelis living in those areas.
Meanwhile, since President Biden took office, the United States has funneled at least $1 billion in taxpayer money to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA), which is funding antisemitic propaganda for children in Gaza and the areas under Palestinian control.
The Biden administration temporarily halted the flow of tax dollars to UNRWA after recent news came out that around a dozen UNRWA employees participated in the October 7 attacks against Israel, 200 UNRWA employees are Hamas or Islamic Jihad Operatives, and 1,200 employees are linked to Hamas. Knowledge of UNRWA's compromised mission is not new, which is why the Trump administration stopped all funding to UNRWA.
As we pray for Israel, we also pray for the innocent Palestinians in Gaza who are being used by Hamas as pawns in their deadly game of terrorism. But Israel should not be forced to stop their effort to protect their people, because Hamas does not care about theirs. The Biden administration should be calling upon Islamic nations in the Middle East to pressure Hamas to lay down their arms, free the hostages and leave Gaza. That could end this conflict over night.
This week, FRC is doing a Stand with Israel prayer campaign to show our support for Israel, take a bold stand against these ungodly policies, and call America to repent for failing to support Israel. Will you join us?
This week only, when you sign our Stand with Israel prayer pledge, we will send you a daily prayer video from Israel and a prayer guide so that you can intercede on behalf of the nation of Israel.
JOIN THE "STAND WITH ISRAEL" CAMPAIGN
Additionally, we will send you a free Israeli-American flag friendship lapel pin for your gift of any size, to serve as a public symbol of your support of Israel.
Now is the time to take a stand. Now is not the time to equivocate. Now is not the time to be intimidated or to be silent. Now is the time to speak boldly the Word of God. Now is the time to stand firm!
Thank you, John, for joining me in praying for Israel and the "peace of Jerusalem" (Psalm 122:6, ESV).
