Dear john,
This past weekend gave me a chance to reflect on Joe Biden's State of the Union address from last Thursday. Besides the numerous gaffes that we've come to expect from Joe Biden, what the nation witnessed may have been not only the most partisan address ever given, but the most out-of-touch.
Joe Biden threatened the Justices of the Supreme Court over the issue of abortion and lied about his economic record when Americans can clearly see for themselves when they go to the grocery store or the gas station. Biden even began the speech not by talking about America, but about Ukraine, which was invaded under his watch.
The fact that Joe Biden jumped through hoops to avoid talking about the worst border crisis in American history should astound everyone. Issue polls make clear that immigration and the border are at the top of everyone's minds.
By all means, I want Joe Biden to do the right thing and secure our border. He could have began his speech by stating that he would undertake executive actions, such as reinstating Trump's Remain in Mexico policy to put an end to this crisis. Instead, Biden chose anger and divisiveness.
