It is an honor to represent the City of Destiny as Mayor. I love Tacoma and care deeply about making sure our city is vibrant and strong. I love our people, and I get the privilege of working every day to improve our communities and respond to our challenges.

The challenge that I hear the most about is the lack of affordable housing in every neighborhood. This is a crisis that impacts us all, and it demands immediate action – both locally and at the national level. We need leaders who can think creatively and strategically to make progress.

I believe Hilary Franz is that leader. It’s why I have proudly joined our congressman in supporting her campaign for Washington's 6th Congressional District. Hilary understands the urgency of our housing crisis and is committed to getting the results we desperately need.

Her track record speaks volumes. Too often in government, folks will look at an issue, throw up their hands and say, “that’s not our lane,” or “we’ve never done that before.”

Not Hilary. She looked at the housing crisis in our state and made the Department of Natural Resources a partner in affordable housing for the first time ever by using state-owned lands to build housing. In Congress, she will have even more ability to address our housing shortage and ensure everyone has a roof over their head and a place to call home.

I believe her leadership and vision are exactly what we need in Congress to tackle the housing crisis and so much more head-on.
