Dear John,

Every year, civil society actors commemorate Sunshine Week in mid-March to shine a light on the importance of public records and government transparency.

For Sunshine Week 2024, the American Immigration Council is hosting a discussion about issues that may arise for immigration attorneys when litigating Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests.

When government agencies fail to provide information requested under FOIA, immigration attorneys can sue in order to get the records they need. This webinar will feature lively discussion from experienced attorneys who have used FOIA requests, and ensuing litigation under FOIA, to get records from the government that were helpful for their clients and their case.

Our panelists will highlight why litigating these requests is important, and will go over the latest information regarding FOIA processing times and new technology to file requests.
