John,

If you use non-stick sprays for your food or have a waterproof winter jacket, watch out! These products can contain “forever chemicals” called PFAs that have been linked to thyroid, liver, and kidney disease and even cancer. They can also be found in many of the teas, hot dogs, and takeout that young people are consuming more than ever before.

These chemicals are incredibly harmful and dangerous because they don’t break down, and recent testing by the EPA has found that nearly 70 million people, or a third of the U.S. population, have been exposed to toxic PFAS in their drinking water.

Will you add your name to our petition to call for the Environmental Protection Agency to swiftly finalize a new safe drinking water standard? [[link removed]]

The EPA's findings, part of the first comprehensive nationwide assessment of PFAS contamination, paint a grim picture of the widespread nature of this pollution - which transcends even geographic and socioeconomic boundaries.

The urgency of this situation cannot be overstated. The EPA is working towards finalizing limits for six PFAS compounds in our drinking water, a critical step forward. However, the path to protecting every community must include substantial investments in water treatment technologies.

This is where we need your help. SEEC Members in Congress, like SEEC Co-Chairs Rep. Doris Matsui and Rep. Mike Quigley are leading the fight against PFAS contamination, calling for a new EPA drinking standard and pushing for the implementation of effective water treatment solutions.

Will you please join us by adding your name and calling for the EPA to quickly adopt a new safe drinking standard in response to these “forever chemicals” in our water? [[link removed]]
