Here's the latest from the frontlines of the fight for all our rights.
ACLU Supporter, we can't afford to leave our rights up to chance.
That's why the ACLU is working year-round in courts, state legislatures, and at the grassroots level, using our unique reach to make real progress for our rights – and defend against attacks from power-hungry lawmakers who would trade away our rights for political points.
At the top of the week, here are just a few of the cases we're fighting right now – particularly at the Supreme Court:
* In trans rights… We're awaiting a ruling in Poe v. Labrador, <[link removed]> in which we're calling on the Supreme Court to uphold lower court rulings blocking an unconstitutional ban on medical care for trans youth in Idaho.
* In voting rights… The fight for fair maps continues. We're expecting a ruling any day in Alexander v. South Carolina State Conference of the NAACP, <[link removed]> our redistricting case where we're looking to overturn South Carolina's racially discriminatory district maps. These maps unlawfully harm Black voters by disproportionately targeting them for movement into new districts.
* In reproductive rights… SCOTUS is hearing two major abortion cases over the next two months – one about whether anti-abortion groups can impose nationwide restrictions on mifepristone, <[link removed]> an essential medication for abortion and miscarriage care, and one about whether politicians can force doctors to turn away patients suffering emergency pregnancy complications. <[link removed]> And we're meeting these threats to our reproductive rights with the full backing of the ACLU – as we go into arguments this March, we're bringing with us the signatures of over 150,000 supporters like you who have signed onto our petition to protect medication abortion.
ACLU Supporter, our ability to fight attacks on our rights on all fronts is thanks to members like you. We're so grateful for your support of this critical work – and we'll keep you updated on the latest in our fight for all our rights.
