Hi John,

I want to tell you how IGNITE the Capitol gave me perspective.

My name is Saha Salahi and I serve as IGNITE’s Legislative Advocacy Manager. In 2022, I co-organized IGNITE the Capitol Arizona and brought a group of high school students to advocate at their state capitol for the very first time.

As I watched their eyes light up with the profound realization that they have a meaningful say in their representatives’ decisions, I couldn’t help but feel deeply moved - on their behalf, but also because it was my very first time at a state capitol too.

My experience at IGNITE the Capitol Arizona inspired me to take an active part in my own state legislature. I accepted an internship in the Senate Majority Office of the Nevada State Legislature. During my time there, I got to work on a bill that I care about deeply, helped usher it through committee, and ultimately saw it pass with a signature from the Governor.

IGNITE the Capitol affirmed for me just how much power advocates hold - I understand firsthand that it takes rallying and pressure from the public to pass legislation that the community needs.
