I know that all too often, our 24-hour news cycle can feel like one negative click-bait story after the next — especially in a major election year like this one.
Add in that a large faction of one of our country’s two major political parties doesn’t seem particularly interested in governing — preferring to sow division and incite anger — and you can become disheartened in our politics.
But there is good news out there. In fact, there’s a lot of it!
I’m an eternal optimist, but even if you don’t share a natural sense of optimism, the facts paint a clear picture: America is in a good place — and getting even better.
✅ Record job growth
Nearly 15 million jobs have been created since President Biden took office — with more jobs added per month than any other president in our history.
✅ Low unemployment
Our country’s unemployment rate has been under 4% for two full years.
✅ Lower health care and energy costs
Thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act, millions of American families are paying less on their health insurance premiums, less on prescription drugs, and less on electricity bills.
✅ $138 billion in student loan debt forgiveness
President Biden has taken huge strides forward in debt forgiveness over the past three years, providing much-needed relief for millions of student loan borrowers.
✅ Bipartisan action to prevent gun violence
We successfully passed the first major gun safety legislation in decades, closing gun law loopholes and establishing new prevention policies across the country.
The numbers and the facts just don’t lie! 💪
I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve accomplished so far, and I’m determined to win reelection and deliver victories for Democrats in November, because we’ve got a whole lot more left to do.
When Democrats win, we’ll defend democracy. We’ll protect people’s fundamental rights. We’ll continue to create good-paying jobs and strengthen our economy.
These are the issues folks across Virginia and the country care about, and these are the issues Democrats are focused on.
The stakes are high this November. We have the dangerous MAGA wing of the Republican Party threatening the very foundation of our country, led by a disgraced and beleaguered Donald Trump, who’s promised to flip Virginia red and claim it for himself.
Not on my watch. And not with this team fighting back.
