Joe Biden on Israel’s Offensive Into Rafah: “It is a red line"

Politico: U.S. President Joe Biden warned the Israeli government against a further intensification of bloodshed in the Gaza Strip as worries grow over the humanitarian disaster in enclave. “We cannot have another 30,000 more Palestinians dead,” Biden said in an interview with MSNBC on Saturday. Asked whether an invasion of Rafah, in the south of Gaza on the border with Egypt, was a red line, Biden replied in the affirmative: “It is a red line.” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is “hurting Israel more than helping Israel” in his approach to the war against Hamas in Gaza, Biden said. Ne++tanyahu that “he must pay more attention to the innocent lives being lost as a consequence of the actions taken,” Biden said (Politico). Wall Street Journal: Since the start of the war, Biden has embraced Israel’s goals of defeating Hamas and ousting its leaders so they can’t remain in control of Gaza and use its territory to mount attacks. But safeguarding Gazan citizens has also been a U.S. goal. The State Department is looking at whether it could invoke a rarely used provision of the Foreign Assistance Act that requires a cutoff of financial and military support for any country that restricts delivery of humanitarian aid, officials said. Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D., Md.) is among the lawmakers calling on the Biden administration to use the provision to curtail aid to Israel (Wall Street Journal).

President Biden Signs $460 Billion Short-Term Spending Bill
CNBC: President Joe Biden on Saturday signed a $460 billion spending bill into law, averting a partial government shutdown that would have taken effect this weekend. This partial budget deal covers funding for six major areas of government, which encompass military and veterans affairs departments, agriculture, commerce, justice, transportation, housing and urban development and energy. On Friday evening, the Senate had voted 75 to 22 to approve the package after the House passed it earlier this week. The agreement marks a step forward in the push to secure a permanent budget plan for the rest of the fiscal year, which started Oct. 1. This is the fourth time this fiscal year that Congress has had to pass a short-term spending bill to keep the government funded and avert a shutdown (CNBC). Senator Mike Lee: A short-term spending bill (funding through September 30th) would save $130 billion. And attaching HR2 would force Biden to secure our border. This bill does neither, and contains 6,000+ earmarks (X).

Biden Apologizes for Calling Laken Riley’s Killer “Illegal”
New York Post: President Biden sparked outrage Saturday, as apologized in a new interview for using the word “illegal” to describe Laken Riley’s alleged killer during his State of the Union address. However, the embattled commander-in-chief failed to apologize – or even acknowledge – that he butchered the murder victim’s name twice as “Lincoln Riley” during the same address (New York Post). Robby Starbuck: Now Biden says illegals built our country and that he won’t disrespect the illegal who killed Laken Riley by calling him any names, says he should have said that he was undocumented instead of illegal (X). Collin Rugg: Donald Trump calls Laken Riley’s murderer an ‘illegal alien’ and calls out President Biden for apologizing to the murderer. “I say he is an illegal alien, he is an illegal immigrant, he is an illegal migrant, and he should have never been in our country, and he wouldn’t have been under the Trump policies” (X).

Biden Claims Illegal Immigrants Built the United States
Fox News: President Biden received criticism online for claiming in a recent interview that “undocumented” immigrants built this country. The statement came as he apologized for using the term “illegal” to describe Jose Ibarra, the Venezuelan national accused of killing Augusta University nursing student Laken Riley. The president drew backlash on social media for crediting illegal immigrants for having “built” the U.S. – something he had previously credited to the American middle class (Fox News). Journalist Jeff Gremillion: In his SOTU speech he said unions and the middle class built this country, now he says “undocumented” immigrants built the country. Any guess as to who he will say built the country the next time he’s speaking to an African-American audience (X)?

Jan. 6 Committee Falsely Claimed There Was No Evidence Proving President Trump Requested Additional Security for the Capital
Fox News: The Jan. 6 congressional committee allegedly falsely claimed it did not have evidence showing former President Donald Trump’s administration requested National Guard assistance, according to a report detailing a “hidden transcript” that was recently released. “The former J6 Select Committee apparently withheld Mr. Ornato’s critical witness testimony from the American people because it contradicted their pre-determined narrative. Mr. Ornato’s testimony proves what Mr. Meadows has said all along: President Trump did in fact offer 10,000 National Guard troops to secure the U.S. Capitol, which was turned down,” Georgia Republican Rep. Barry Loudermilk said in a statement on Friday (Fox News). Mollie Hemmingway: Cheney and her committee falsely claimed they had “no evidence” to support Trump officials’ claims the White House had communicated its desire for 10,000 National Guard troops. In fact, an early transcribed interview conducted by the committee included precisely that evidence from a key source. The interview, which Cheney attended and personally participated in, was suppressed from public release until now (Federalist).

President Biden Orders 1,000 Troops to Construct a Pier in Gaza to Deliver Meals to Palestinians
Daily Wire: President Joe Biden is deploying the U.S. military to Gaza to build a pier so that millions of meals can be delivered to the Palestinians every day. The move by Biden comes as he seeks to quell opposition from far-left Democrats and Muslim voters in the U.S. who are angry that he has not done more to support Palestinians after Palestinian Islamic terrorists with Hamas murdered 1,200 people inside Israel during their unprecedented October 7 terrorist attacks. Palestinian civilians, including children, participated in the terrorist attack and polling has shown that Palestinians overwhelmingly support terrorist attacks against Jews and hate the United States (Daily Wire). Politico: Pentagon spokesperson Patrick Ryder said on Friday that constructing the pier may require up to 60 days and the contribution of more than 1,000 American troops. Ryder confirmed Biden’s pledge that no U.S. serviceman will enter Gaza during construction operations (Politico).

New York Firefighters Forced to Take Woke “Education” Classes After Chanting “Trump” During AG Letitia James Speech
Townhall: New York Attorney General Letitia James was met with a roar of boos and chants of “Trump” from firefighters during a speech at an FDNY promotion ceremony this week. However, those firefighters are facing consequences for their outbursts toward the woman who will do anything in her power to take former President Trump down. In a statement, FDNY Chief of Department John Hodgens said that the firefighters who disrupted James’s speech will be forced to take woke “re-education” classes. Critics are slammed by the FDNY for suppressing the firefighter’s First Amendment rights (Townhall). DC Draino: After NY Firefighters exercised their 1st Amdt right to protest corrupt city leaders, a letter was sent saying anyone who booed Letitia James will be sent to HQ for re-“education.” NYC has become a Marxist hellhole where politics are prosecuted & anyone objecting gets in trouble (X).

U.S. Evacuates Nonessential Staff From Embassy in Haiti
Fox News: The U.S. military has sent forces to Haiti to airlift nonessential staff from the U.S. embassy and help bolster security amid gang violence plaguing the Caribbean nation. U.S. Southern Command said non-essential personnel were airlifted, and no Haitians were on board the aircraft. Nonessential personnel can include the families of diplomats, but the embassy had already ordered departure for nonessential staff and all family members in July. The neighborhood around the embassy in the capital, Port-au-Prince, is largely controlled by gangs (Fox News). Associated Press: Haiti’s embattled prime minister, Ariel Henry, traveled recently to Kenya to push for the U.N.-backed deployment of a police force from the East African country to fight the gangs. But a Kenyan court ruled in January that such a deployment would be unconstitutional. Henry, who is facing calls to resign or form a transitional council, remains unable to return home. He arrived in Puerto Rico on Tuesday after he was unable to land in the Dominican Republic, which borders Haiti (Associated Press).

U.K. Defense Secretary Grant Shapps posted video to social media early Saturday showing what he said was the British warship HMS Richmond using missiles to shoot down two Houthi drones (CBS). BBC: The Houthis said they had targeted a commercial ship, Propel Fortune, and a number of US destroyers. A statement from the US Central Command said no US or coalition military vehicles were damaged and there were no reports of damage from commercial ships. Since November, the Houthis have been attacking ships in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden in what they say is a campaign of solidarity with Palestinians during Israel’s war in Gaza (BBC).

Democrats Unanimously Vote Down Proposal to Prohibit Illegal Immigrants From Voting
Townhall: This week, Senate Democrats shot down proposed legislation that would exclude illegal immigrants from being counted on the census for the purposes of apportionment for House seats and the Electoral College. Proposed by Sen. Bill Hagerty (R-TN) to add an amendment to the $460 billion spending package, the legislation would require the Census Bureau to include a U.S. citizenship question in any future census. It would ban any illegal immigrants and non- U.S. Citizens from being counted for congressional district and Electoral College apportionment. However, 51 Democrats and Independents voted against the bill (Townhall). Greg Price: Not a single Democrat Senator just voted for Sen. Bill Hagerty’s amendment to stop illegal aliens from being counted in apportionment for congressional districts and the Electoral College (X).
