Dear John,

This week, President Biden gave his State of the Union Address. Read more to learn about my guest, what the President talked about and my takeaways for the Inland Empire.

MEET MY GUEST: JODI HICKS

Over the past several years, we've witnessed relentless attacks on reproductive rights, including the Alabama Supreme Court jeopardizing the use of IVF, which has led to the closing of some fertility centers in Alabama and left hopeful parents in limbo.

I invited Jodi Hicks, the President and CEO of Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California, to be my guest to the State of the Union as a reminder of the urgency and importance of defending reproductive freedom.

Jodi, who has been on the front lines of the fight to defend reproductive freedom, has worked tirelessly to ensure reproductive health care is protected for women in the Inland Empire and across our state.

During his speech, President Biden highlighted how he and Democrats in Congress have delivered for the American people, including laws to lower the cost of living, cap the cost of insulin at $35/month for Medicare enrollees and create more good-paying jobs rebuilding roads, bridges and freeways.

He also made clear what challenges lie ahead, and the importance of working together to take on the issues that matter to all of us, like tackling the housing crisis, curbing the fentanyl epidemic, supporting veterans and forging a brighter future for the next generation.

I am committed to working alongside President Biden to build on the progress that we have made, and I will continue advocating on behalf of our community and our priorities.
