Here’s what we’re going to do about it.

Hey John,

“I will go on the record with you all tonight and say that I absolutely believe in climate change. It happens four times every year.”

Thanks, Lauren Boebert.

That’s all Boebert had to say when asked about the climate emergency last July while Americans were living through the hottest summer on record.

Of course, this is exactly the kind of flippant and disrespectful attitude we can expect from her and the entire MAGA movement when their ringleader, Donald Trump, has been denying and spreading misinformation on the climate crisis for years.

Unfortunately, for far too many Americans, it’s not even possible to joke about or make light of climate change any longer. Americans are being forced to endure it.

Right now, deadly fires are sweeping multiple states. Hurricanes like Idalia are increasing in frequency and intensity every year causing billions of dollars in damage, destroying homes, and lives. Extended periods of drought plague our agricultural industries. Extreme weather events are becoming more severe, and more frequent, and it’s happening right in front of our eyes.

This emergency is an enormous threat to our national security. The Pentagon agrees. The Department of Defense has assessed that environmental degradation, social tensions, political instability, and global conflicts will increase under the effects of climate change.

It’s now estimated that severe weather events are costing our country around $150 billion a year. And experts estimate that already, hundreds of thousands of Americans are dying every year from pollution and climate-related causes.

That’s because climate change is so much more than just the weather – yes, heat waves, flooding, and hurricanes are more intense than we’ve ever seen before and are causing disaster, destruction, and conflict. But in addition, rising temperatures and rising sea levels hurt our economy and impact access to food, costing Americans jobs, and creating instability.

The crisis is at our doorstep and it is getting worse.

That’s why you won’t see me making the climate emergency into a joke when I stop Lauren Boebert from taking this seat in November. I’m focused on finding solutions – reducing greenhouse emissions, creating jobs in clean energy, promoting sustainable agriculture, and helping Americans have a future we can look forward to.

Are you with me? Please pitch in to my campaign right now to ensure we can flip the house in 2024 and get serious about responding to the climate emergency. ([link removed])
