John,

Good afternoon, and welcome to our Weekend Update.

After a dominating performance on Super Tuesday, President Donald J. Trump is now officially the Republican nominee. I never doubted his ability to win and was eager to endorse him early in the process.

The general election has officially begun. A vote for Joe Biden is very simply a vote for the current direction of open borders, excessive spending, assaults on American energy, and inflation. Also, Biden’s weakness on the world stage has plunged the world into chaos. Super Tuesday made clear that Donald Trump is the best candidate to beat Joe Biden in November. This is a unifying moment, and it’s time we come together. Everyone who supported our other candidates in the primary now needs to get behind President Trump and the much-needed course correction he will bring for the next four years.

I was able to join our good friends and great Americans, Donald Trump Jr. and Kimberly Guilfoyle, this week.

In a major victory for our democracy, the Supreme Court ruling barring states from unilaterally removing presidential candidates from the ballot is huge. The destructive attempt by several states to remove Donald Trump, the leading Republican candidate for President, from the ballot was nothing more than a political, partisan attack on the very core of our country. Had the actions by Colorado, Maine, and others been allowed to stand, it would have set a very dangerous precedent and effectively disenfranchised millions of voters who support President Trump. Thank God we live in a country where states and courts cannot kick a presidential candidate off the ballot simply because they don’t support their politics. We live in a constitutional republic, not a banana republic.

The State of the Union was hard to listen to – President Biden gaslight the American people, lying about his record and blaming Republicans and businesses for his blatant failures.

Biden needed to acknowledge the realities of the circumstances our nation faces. But instead of taking stock of the crises he created, he gaslit Americans, making the people feel as if their struggles were of their own making. The only thing I found inspirational about this speech was that it spurred a renewed determination to fight for real American leadership and a course correction for our future. Before his address, I joined “Mornings with Maria” on Fox Business. We covered what to expect from the President’s address, Fed Chair Powell’s testimony before the House Financial Services Committee, and government funding. Click here or below to watch my interview.

Inflation has risen 18% since President Biden took office, largely due to his Administration’s excessive spending. My constituents still experience sticker shock whenever they check out at the grocery store or fill their gas tanks. We need pro-growth initiatives to get our country back on track, not the tax and spend agenda that the President laid out during the State of the Union. I joined Newsmax’s “American Agenda” to discuss the issue further. Click here or below to watch my interview.

This week, I appeared on the WILK Newsradio with Bob Cordaro. We covered the many misguided policy decisions this Administration has made that have directly resulted in the catastrophe at our southern border. We also discussed in detail the ongoing impeachment inquiry into President Biden and the mountains of evidence showing his involvement in his family’s influence-peddling scheme. IN NEWS YOU WON’T HEAR IN THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA: While Biden is clearly confused about the State of the Union, Americans know they are far WORSE off because of the failures of his administration.

BIDEN’S PRESIDENCY HAS BEEN A COMPLETE FAILURE

AMERICANS ARE CONCERNED ABOUT BIDEN’S “DIMINSHED FACULTIES”

  • 76 percent of voters, including half of Democrats, say they’re concerned about Biden’s mental and physical fitness for a second term, according to a poll by NBC News.
    • A poll by Monmouth University had similar findings – 76 percent of voters, including 56 percent of Democrats, said Biden is too old to effectively serve another term.

AMERICANS ARE WORSE OFF FINANCIALLY BECAUSE OF BIDENOMICS

BIDEN’S POLICIES HAVE BEEN A HANDOUT FOR THE WEALTHY

  • Biden has repeatedly taken steps to unilaterally “cancel” student loan debt, including recently transferring nearly $138 billion in federal student loans to taxpayers without a single act of Congress.

BIDEN HAS CREATED AN UNPRECEDENTED CRISIS AT THE BORDER

  • Within his first 100 days in office, Biden rolled back important Trump-era policies, including Remain in Mexico and construction of a border wall, that ensured a secure border.

BIDEN’S FOREIGN POLICY BLUNDERS HAVE MADE THE WORLD LESS SAFE

  • Under Biden, Iran-backed terrorists in the Middle East have grown increasingly emboldened.
  • Biden’s disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal left Americans stranded and resulted in the deaths of 13 service members.
  • Biden has failed to hold China accountable.
  • Biden has long downplayed the threat of China, saying “China is not our enemy,” “a rising China is a positive development” for the U.S., and they’re “not bad folks.”

THE MILITARY IS WEAKER UNDER BIDEN

BIDEN IS WAGING A WAR ON AMERICAN ENERGY

  • Throughout his presidency, Biden has targeted American-made energy.
    • On his first day in office, the Biden administration “issued a memo suspending the authority of the local Bureau of Land Management offices to approve leases, drilling permits, and mining operations.”
    • In January, Biden delayed consideration of new natural gas export terminals.
  • Biden would rather buy oil from hostile foreign nations than boost American energy production.
  • To limit soaring gas prices ahead of the 2022 midterm election, Biden sold off more than 40 percent of the Strategic Petroleum Reserve.

BIDEN HAS FAILED PARENTS AND STUDENTS

BIDEN HAS SPENT THREE YEARS PUSHING DEMOCRATS’ WOKE AGENDA

  • The Biden administration is an advocate for abortions without limits.
  • Biden opposes a state’s right to protect minors from life-altering sex-change surgeries.
  • Biden appointed a “book ban coordinator” to stop actions to remove pornographic material from school libraries and classrooms.
  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) has infiltrated all levels of the federal bureaucracy under Biden.
  • Biden has stripped away important religious freedom protections.

DESPITE PROMISES OF UNITY, BIDEN FREQUENTLY TARGETS HIS POLITICAL OPPONENTS

The Biden administration is a failure by every measure, on every issue!

This week, I questioned the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) Administration (SBA) and delved into the actions it must take to prevent further fraud within its Small Business programs. The Biden Administration needs to take its responsibility to protect taxpayer funds seriously. If genuine concern for the American taxpayer existed, we would see comprehensive fraud prevention measures in place and proactive collaboration between the SBA and the private sector to enhance their systems. Another issue impacting America is increased crime. There are real concerns throughout our cities and communities about the violence in our streets. There has clearly been a failed social experiment on the part of Biden and the left that has resulted in high levels of crime. Democrats have defunded and discredited police forces across the country, as well as appointed and elected liberal prosecutors who aren’t prosecuting. We must correct course, and the American people deserve a president who will make national security and public safety job one. Click here or below to watch my remarks on the floor of the U.S. House.

Under the past Trump Administration, there was no invasion of Ukraine, peace in the Middle East, and less tension between China and Taiwan. As well, the terrorist state of Iran was defunded because of the strict sanctions on their oil exports. But today, Biden’s weakness on the world stage has plunged the world into chaos. Click here to hear my remarks on the floor of the U.S. House.

I had the opportunity to meet with Anna Corbett, the wife of Ryan Corbett, along with their children. Ryan, a U.S. citizen who grew up in Susquehanna County, has been held captive by the Taliban in Afghanistan since August 10, 2022. To date, he has never been charged with a crime, and the State Department has determined he is wrongfully detained. Today, his family visited the Capitol to advocate for his safe return and provide an update on Ryan’s condition and welfare. On Ryan’s behalf, I have written to the State Department and met with the Qatari government, which is serving as the go-between for the U.S. and the Taliban. As well, I have cosponsored a resolution demanding his release. I will continue fighting until Ryan is reunited with his family. The United States is the single largest humanitarian donor in Afghanistan, and not a penny more should be sent until every American hostage is freed. To learn more about Ryan’s story, click here.

I enjoyed meeting our good friend Andrew Ritter Jr. from Range Resources. Range Resources is a leading natural gas producer and is considered a pioneer of the Marcellus Shale. We discussed natural gas's critical role in restoring America’s energy dominance and securing our nation’s energy independence. We must support an all-of-the-above and all-of-the-below energy solution.

I had the opportunity to meet with Joe D’Ascenzo of ReFined Plastics, a Pennsylvania-based company committed to repurposing legacy electricity-generating assets for clean energy production. Their efforts aim to enhance energy independence and grid security in the United States and foster job creation in the Commonwealth. We discussed ReFined Plastics’ significant progress toward sustainable energy solutions and how Congress can support an all-of-the-above and all-of-the-below energy agenda.

I was happy to meet a group with the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Doctors and medical students from across Pennsylvania’s 9th District visited my Washington office to discuss issues related to Medicare reimbursements, maternity care services, and more. I appreciate the organization’s efforts to advocate for improved patient care nationwide, especially in rural areas.

This week, I met with PA State FOP President Joe Regan, along with other members of the organization from PA, to discuss federal legislation concerning retirement benefits for law enforcement officers. It is crucial to ensure that our police officers receive the retirement benefits they have earned. In Congress, I will continue to emphasize the crucial role our law enforcement officers play in safeguarding the welfare of our great Commonwealth.

PA ELECTION ACTION ALERT:

Attention Pennsylvania voters: Mail-in ballots are now being sent out. Take action and request yours promptly. Also, consider early in-person voting at your county election bureau as a convenient alternative. Encourage your friends and neighbors who may not be able to vote in the April 23rd Pennsylvania Primary to take advantage of these voting options. Your vote matters. You can click here or below to learn more.

Last but not least, recently, I was driving home from Washington up Route 15 and stopped at Gettysburg. I took a run through the Gettysburg battlefields. This hallowed ground is so historic and inspiring. If you haven’t been there lately, I strongly suggest you go. It's beautiful, amazing, meaningful…

We look forward to catching up with you next week. God Bless, and see you soon,
