Friends,
In the '60s they said the Civil Rights bill was "impossible".
Today, make no mistake — any time candidates or lawmakers say the US "can't do" universal healthcare, it means they lack the political will to fight for it.
If naysayers don't believe it's possible, if they don't realize the savings ($500 billion a year), if they lack the courage to stand for what the majority of Americans want, they don't deserve to be contenders for the People's House.
The truth is, we can't afford not to do it. Regarding healthcare reform, it's just not enough to say we need "access to care."
We need healthcare for all; we need it now, and our leaders' wisdom, courage, and competence make it possible.
Our nation's major milestones were achieved by leaders with visions - fueled by and for the people. They created paths forward and made the impossible possible.
To my opponents - if you don't share that vision, get out of the way.
To all others - thank you for standing with me in this fight. I'm in it for all of us.
