The 2024 general election is underway in North Carolina, and the stakes are high for offices at every level of government. This is a longer email, but it’s important, so we hope you have a few minutes to read to the end.

We want to share with you just what’s on the line in some of our races, but first, we HAVE to ask you to support Roy Cooper’s work to elect Democrats across the North Carolina ballot. [[link removed]]

THE PRESIDENTIAL RACE

North Carolina is a key 2024 battleground in the race for the White House.

President Biden wakes up every day thinking about the American people. His administration has made generational investments in infrastructure, climate protections, and pandemic recovery.

Donald Trump wakes up every day thinking about himself. Our democracy may not survive another Trump term.

Republicans know that they can’t retake the presidency without carrying North Carolina in a Biden-Trump rematch. Democrats HAVE to put up a fight to win NC and ensure the Biden administration can keep up their hard work.

We have to spend the next eight months making that case in every corner of North Carolina — because together, we can flip our state blue and help re-elect President Biden.

THE GOVERNOR’S RACE

North Carolina’s 2024 governor’s race is the most competitive in the nation — and our Governor’s Office is Republicans’ top pick-up target.

For months, polls have shown Democratic nominee Josh Stein in a dead heat with Republican Mark Robinson.

Josh Stein, North Carolina’s current Attorney General, is an advocate for women’s reproductive rights, funding our public schools, investing in community safety, and protecting access to the ballot box.

Robinson is a conspiracy theorist who wants to ban abortion and return America to a time when women could not vote.

He cannot be allowed to take the Governor’s Office.

THE LEGISLATURE

When turncoat representative Tricia Cotham switched parties, she gave Republicans a one-seat supermajority in both chambers of the legislature. We have to BREAK the supermajorities in 2024 to halt the advance of their far-right agenda.

NC Republicans have made it clear that they’re all-in on radical GOP culture wars, like attacking LGBTQ+ schoolkids and banning abortion care.

They also prefer spending their time on political infighting to addressing our state’s needs — they even delayed our Medicaid Expansion agreement so long that tens of thousands of North Carolinians were kicked off the rolls.

Democrats are running strong candidates in every last state Senate district and all but one state House district because we know we have to compete in even the hardest races to break the supermajorities in Raleigh.

SUPERINTENDENT OF PUBLIC INSTRUCTION

Before the primary, Republicans held the advantage of incumbency in the race for superintendent on the Council of State. That all changed when an ultra-radical challenger won the GOP primary.

GOP nominee Michele Morrow has called our state’s public schools “indoctrination centers” — though she’s never even sent her own children to public school in NC. She was also at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021, when Donald Trump’s supporters staged an insurrection against our government.

She’s a direct threat to teachers’ ability to educate North Carolina’s next generation of leaders.

Mo Green is our Democratic nominee for superintendent. He has years of experience in North Carolina’s public education system, including as superintendent for Guilford County Schools.

He’ll prioritize investing in public schools to ensure teachers and students have the resources they need and advocate for keeping students safe.

John, the 2024 elections could set North Carolina on a path of progress or set us back generations. Our rights, freedoms, and democracy itself are on the line.

The candidates nominated by the GOP are a danger to our state. We MUST defeat them.

Roy Cooper is leading North Carolina Democrats’ 2024 campaign efforts and investing heavily in candidates we can count on. He needs your immediate support to keep up the work. [[link removed]]

North Carolina is set to be one of the most important swing states in the 2024 elections.

Republicans need to win NC to return Donald Trump to the White House. Meanwhile, Roy is committed to flipping our state blue for President Biden.

Roy is term-limited and can’t run again this time, and our upcoming gubernatorial election is considered the most competitive gubernatorial contest in the country. Meanwhile, Republicans hold just one-seat supermajorities in both chambers of the state legislature — we MUST break the supermajorities to prevent the GOP from enacting their radical agenda in North Carolina.

Join Roy in the fight to elect Democrats at every level of the North Carolina ballot this November. Donate today. [[link removed]]
