Good morning,

Media personality and conservative activist Sara Gonzales is coming to Texas Scorecard!

You may know Sara from her nationally focused show “Sara Gonzales Unfiltered” on The Blaze.

Starting this week, Sara will also be hosting a new weekly show at Texas Scorecard called "Come and Take It".

Our nation is at a crossroads. Now, more than ever, Texas must step up and lead the country.

Each week, Sara will be diving into the issues affecting the Lone Star State and our local communities. Sara is here to call out what’s gone wrong in Texas and what we can do to fix it.

Featured School Choice Wins Big on Super Tuesday​​​​​​​ [[link removed]]

The 2024 primary election was a major success for school choice advocates in Texas. Several opponents of education reform lost outright, others went to runoffs, and still more were electorally weakened.

Throughout multiple called special sessions in 2023, the Republican-led House alternatively delayed and killed Gov. Greg Abbott’s efforts to create school choice in Texas. Ultimately, these efforts culminated with 21 Republicans voting for an amendment to strip school choice from an omnibus education measure.

Accounting for retirements and with the runoffs still to be decided, only a handful of incumbent Republicans who sided with the teachers’ unions to kill school choice during the legislative session will be returning to Austin in 2025.

State Rep. Cody Harris is employed by Third Coast Bank, which has ties to current Speaker Dade Phelan and former Speaker Dennis Bonnen.

Houston Finance Director Melissa Dubowksi told city council members to expect a shortfall of at least $160 million in the upcoming fiscal year 2025 budget.
